Biography
Mr. Melton joined the firm in October 2023 as an associate attorney in the Southern California Office. He represents healthcare providers in arbitrations, mediations, and state and federal court proceedings against health plans, insurance companies and the government.
From 2015-2016, Mr. Melton was an Assistant State’s Attorney for McDonough County, Illinois prosecuting DUIs, drug crimes, and violent crimes. From 2017-2018, Mr. Melton was a Staff Attorney for the El Centro, CA office of California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. handling housing, labor, and civil rights cases. From 2018-2021, Mr. Melton was a Deputy District Attorney for the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office prosecuting major narcotics cases and general felonies. From 2021-2023, Mr. Melton became a Deputy Public Defender for the Imperial County Public Defender’s Office and was later promoted to Senior Deputy Public Defender.
While attending Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Mr. Melton was a Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy Fellow, was the Vice President of the Latino Law Student Association, competed in the National Latino Law Student Association moot court competition, competed in the Health Law Regulatory and Compliance Competition, competed in the National Health law Transactional Competition, was a brief writer for Loyola University Chicago School of Law’s Willem C. Vis East Moot Commercial Arbitration Team that won the international competition in Hong Kong in 2014, and was a Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund Scholarship Recipient in 2012.
Mr. Melton enjoys sports and collectibles. He played football and competed in field events both at the collegiate and high school levels
