Biography
Sean Christopher Rotstan joined the firm in May 2023 as a litigation attorney for the firm’s Southern California office. As a former appellate and first amendment attorney, Sean specializes in intricate legal strategy and the art of the written argument. He now brings that expertise to assisting health providers in health care litigation and insurance coverage disputes, including state and federal civil actions, arbitrations, mediations, settlement negotiations, and other reimbursement disputes between health plans and healthcare providers. Litigated issues typically involve interpretation of California’s Knox-Keene Act, the federal Employee Retirement Income and Security Act (“ERISA”), the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (“EMTALA”), as well as general contract and other business disputes.
Prior to joining the firm, Sean obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2012 and his law degree from Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law in 2017. He became a member of the California State Bar in July 2017. Since that time, Sean has prevailed at the trial and appellate levels through the strength of his writing on dozens of occasions, helping small businesses stay open and countless individuals speak their truths about topics ranging from simple online reviews to victims speaking out against their abusers. Sean takes pride in knowing that his work has made a positive impact on the lives of his clients and improved the legal landscape for others in similar circumstances.
Sean has also spent considerable time leading teams of coworkers through the management and handling of hundreds of cases at a time, ranging in topics from representing professional athletes while navigating sports labor laws to serving as outside counsel to major automotive manufacturers.
